Private Halifax Introduction

Offer Image
The perfect introduction to Halifax is your own private tour with the services of a driver/guide who will show you to the must-see places in this city of historic prominence dating to 1749.

Private Halifax Introduction

Discover Halifax, Nova Scotia's vibrant capital city and the business, educational and cultural center of the Canadian Maritimes. A significant port city since its founding in 1749, Halifax is unique for its architecture, stunning 18th and 19th-century buildings that are interposed with ultra-modern glass towers, all framed by the backdrop of Halifax Harbour, the second-largest year-round harbor in the world.

Your private tour affords you and your family or friends an intimate and personal experience while in port. Your local and knowledgeable driver/guide will introduce you to Nova Scotia's city by the sea. Explore the largest city and provincial capital and cultural hub in Nova Scotia where the nearly 4 kilometer (2.5 mile) long harbor-front boardwalk is lined with shops, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment. Offering a multitude of unique dining, shopping, live music venues and nightlife, there is something for everyone in this culturally rich and panoramic city.

After your guided tour of the city, enjoy a walk along the Halifax waterfront boardwalk that follows the water's edge alongside the world's second largest ice-free harbor. Stretching from the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, the gateway into Canada for over one million immigrants, to Casino Nova Scotia, you will pass unique shops, restaurants, and a bustling working harbor.

This relaxing excursion highlights Halifax's multifaceted character, churches and institutions of higher learning, as well as its gracious parks, notable monuments and richly historic buildings. Included is a stop at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, location of some of the 150 victims of the Titanic that are buried in Halifax. Your driver/guide will explain the connection that Halifax had with the sinking of this historic ship disaster.

From the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, your tour winds its way through bustling downtown Halifax along the waterfront to the North End site of the Halifax Explosion. A collision in 1917 between two ships in Halifax harbor, one a French munitions ship, leveled the North End of Halifax killing or injuring thousands.

You can also visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic (self-guided tour), showcasing Nova Scotia's connection with the Atlantic Ocean through historical exhibits and models, and the Halifax Public Gardens, Canada's oldest Victorian style gardens.

Complete your introduction to Halifax with a drive around Citadel Hill, now a national historic site, it was once the main focal point of British defenses in the city. From the Citadel you will be afforded magnificent and panoramic views of Halifax Harbour and the downtown skyline.

This private tour will be the highlight of your time in Halifax as you learn, see and experience beautiful Nova Scotia!

Please Note: Admission to Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is included as well as gratuity. Transportation available for this private tour can accommodate groups of up to 3 or 5 guests maximum. Groups with more than 5 guests may be accommodated upon request. Please take this information into consideration when booking.
